Year in the Life of Sarah Harris

Coming up with the actual writing for this project proved to be harder than I imagined.  How do I describe Sarah Harris in a paragraph...for those that know her you know that would be impossible.  I asked her if she would be willing to write the first installment, thankfully she said yes.  (PTL all the praise hands.) Sit back and enjoy the first installment of "A year in the life of Sarah Harris."

We are all really good at finding reasons to feel insignificant, to feel forgotten, to feel broken. We are great at seeing the double chins, and the dimples in our legs, and the extra skin on our arms.  But here’s the thing: when we notice those things first, we miss the things that are important.  We miss the look that proves how deeply we care for one another.  We miss the laughs break through the dimensions of the 2-D photograph, brought about by our hilarious joke.  We miss the enamored looks that the littles give us when we read them books with that ridiculous voice, and we miss the smiles that shine when we play patty-cake with them.  And those are the things that our kids and our friends and our dogs will remember.  Sweet Baby James won’t remember when he’s 5 or 10 or 30 what I wore on any given day.  He won’t care that I had a few extra pounds. He won’t identify me by being a part time nanny or a business owner or single. He will remember that I was Aunt Sarah.  That I made him laugh.  That I read books in ridiculous voices.  That I played hard.  That I knew him deeply and loved him well.  - Sarah Harris
