Happy are the people whose strength is in you,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
Psalm 84:5
It has been a while since I took photos of the Fullers. After I sent Greta her gallery, she made me laugh so hard, because for the next four hours I kept receiving texts of how much she loved them, and also why she would love one more than the other. The following morning I had another text from her, and it made me cry. It was possibly the best compliment I’ve ever received about my work. The third photo down in this series made her think of what the Lord had impressed on her at the beginning of the school year. She had spent a lot of time in Psalm 84 and loved verse 5. Verse 5 makes her think of the pilgrimage of her family, and that they are all journeying towards heaven together. Happy. Plain and simple. Happy knowing where their journey ends, but also happy because life is full on this side too. Happy and blessed to know each other; happy and blessed to know that they are a gift to each other.
What made me cry was looking back at that photo and knowing that’s exactly what Stuart and Greta will look like when they see Jesus for the first time. Happy then and happy now, knowing how much they view this life as a gift. What a humbling thought to have my work remind a friend of what her journey towards heaven looks like with her family. That in itself is a gift.
